Matthew Ober - Director/Producer/Editor
Matthew Ober is a filmmaker based in Philadelphia, PA. While starting out making fiction films, he now primarily works in nonfiction. His short films have screened at festivals in the United States and Canada. Car Brain is his feature film debut. He was a member of the Philadelphia media arts collective Lino Kino, which organizes experimental video screenings throughout the city. He now works as a projectionist for LIghtbox Film Center. He has a BFA in film production from Concordia University in Montreal.
Reed McCoy - Director/Producer
Reed McCoy is a musician and multimedia artist based in Philadelphia, whose video work frequently intersects with alternative comedy and/or accompanies music. He is the frontman and chief songwriter of the punk band Half, which currently plays shows as a multi-person live outfit, but occasionally takes the form of a solo performance incorporating video. An analog or lo-fi aesthetic frequently accompanies his video work. He has a BA in Cinema Studies and Studio Art from Oberlin College.
Michael Cormier-O'Leary - Composer
Michael Cormier-O’Leary is a composer, multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and producer based in Philadelphia. He is known as the bandleader of the shapeshifting instrumental ensemble Hour. His upcoming work for film includes musical scores for two narrative short films (‘Gribbon’, directed by Josh Kay, and ‘Shut Up, Ian’, directed by Zoe Ettinger), a feature-length documentary (‘Car Brain’, directed by Matt Ober and Reed McCoy), and a feature-length horror film (untitled project by Hayden Hall). Additionally, he has scored music for podcasts, including ‘Drifting Off with Joe Pera’, ‘Otherworld’, and season 3 of APM’s ‘Spectacular Failures’. Additionally, Cormier-O’Leary is the drummer and a founding member of the indie rock band Friendship, and also performs live with power pop outfit 2nd Grade and Japanese folk legend Sachiko Kanenobu. In 2019, he founded Dear Life Records as a home for both his compositional and songwriter material. The label has since grown into a vast network of forward thinking, genre-bending artists including MJ Lenderman, Fust, Florry, Kath Bloom, Wendy Eisenberg, and more.
